- “Before our white brothers arrived to make us civilized men, we didn’t have any kind of prison. Because of this, we had no delinquents. Without a prison, there can be no delinquents.
We had no locks nor keys and therefore among us there were no thieves. When someone was so poor that he couldn’t afford a horse, a tent or a blanket, he would, in that case, receive it all as a gift.
We were too uncivilized to give great importance to private property. We didn’t know any kind of money and consequently, the value of a human being was not determined by his wealth.
We had no written laws laid down, no lawyers, no politicians, therefore we were not able to cheat and swindle one another.
We were really in bad shape before the white men arrived and I don’t know how to explain how we were able to manage without these fundamental things that (so they tell us) are so necessary for a civilized society.”
— John (Fire) Lame Deer.
- The great Lotus of illumination flowers as the world, the universe around us, her powers are of such magnitude that she deludes the deluded and intoxicates the aware. Say *yes* to the Goddess of enlightenment for she is enlightenment itself, always life affirming. ♥
- “Love is the ultimate outlaw. It just won't adhere to any rules. The most any of us can do is to sign on as its accomplice. Instead of vowing to honor and obey, maybe we should swear to aid and abet.”
― Tom Robbins, Still Life With Woodpecker
- “There is a sense in which a painted stick is a stick in bloom. This stick points to the hidden face of God. Sometimes it points to you.”
― Tom Robbins, Skinny Legs and All
- "Surrender then, is the discipline of Love. Surrender is the initiation into The Feminine Perspective. When one recognizes and experiences the Divine as Life itself, and Life as the Eternal Process of unfolding Love, this then is the advent of the Goddess. We can then put away all our fairy tales of beginnings and endings, and embrace Eternity - the Great Mystery at the heart of our own Being.
When the definitions of Love, Life, and the Divine all become synonymous, the Great Adventure has begun. The weaving together of these seemingly separate concepts into a Living Whole makes all Life Sacred and Holy, and each unique individual expression of Life, integrated and healthy."
- "Alone, I had moved from peak to peak in the mountain range of my spiritual journey, conquering the heights, touching the sky, basking in the light. I did not realize there was a whole other side to spirituality. The scriptures I read did not mention it, or if they had I could not see it. My teachers did not talk about it, because they themselves did not know. It had to do with the wisdom not of the mountain, but of the valley. It was the journey into the depths, not the heights of the human soul. It moved one not into the sky, but reconnected one back to the earth, not just basking in the light, but also dissolving into the darkness. It was beyond the realm of the masculine hero's conquests. It was the Feminine Dimension of Life."
- "Why do judges, priests, ministers and pontiffs wear robes in front of their court and congregations? Why do students wear robes at their graduation? I believe the practice of cross-dressing can be traced back to a time when men trying to assume the trappings of past feminine authority, sought to replicate the same image of authority held by the priestesses they had replaced. Evidently, this was not considered an unworthy tactic when used to usurp the ancient authority of woman."
- "Because of Love, mortals have intimacy and may escape alienation, enjoy friendship, and avoid enmity. Those who are with him, they treasure him; and those who are not with him they covet him, because he is a marvel and a delight, and all tenderness, elegance and grace come from him, who is the ornament of all creatures. Similarly, they who know the labors of his mystic rites, wish no part with those who ignore them; for they, having found inspiration, wisdom, virtue and delight in Love, consider him to be the sweetest of all divinities, and do not desire any other thing than to yield to Love."
- "When I teach avoidance of sexual union,
It is so that weak worldly beings will abandon it.
I teach whatever will mature worldly beings.
One & all will become Buddhas
By the dance of the magical displays of a Victorious One,
By various diverse methods.
In all the discourses & Abhidharma texts,
Women are disparaged,
Spoken for the sake of disciples of various capacities-
The real truth is taught secretly.
'Why do the early disciples & others slander women?'
That is common to the early disciples & others
who live in the realm of desire,
Not knowing the path of liberation
That relies on women & bestows everything."
- "'Being' is Unity. It is unchanging, unlimited, undivided wholeness. Yet at the same time, you experience it. Experience is different. It is ever-changing and multi-form. You experience many different things in many different ways. There is also a distinction between you and the things you experience. Unlike Being, which is unity, experience is divided in parts.
But there is more to experience than that. Though you're separate from what you experience, there's a connection too -- you're linked to that object through your experience of it. You and the object come together in your experience.
This is the magic of experience, that it is divided in parts, yet unified too. And nowhere is this magic more clear than in Sacred Union. In Sacred Union you experience unity. Your universal Self experiences Itself. Unity and diversity merge together in one magical experience.
This magical diversity that experiences Unity is your pure feminine essence.
And now it should be easy to see why we call it Sacred Union. Your experience of your inner Self is a union of your male and female essence. Diversity experiences Unity; male and female together as one. It is a pure sexual experience.
Sacred Union also reveals the mechanics of creation. For in your own experience you see how everything comes out of nothing. Within Unity is the seed of diversity. Universal Being experiences Itself, and in so doing, divides Itself. The parts then interact in multiform ways, reproducing and manifesting themselves. Thus, from the primeval sexual union of male and female essence, creation is born.
That's why not only you, but all of creation as well, are sexual to your very core. It's also why sex has been sacred literally since the dawn of creation -- creation itself is a sexual act."
